Stock Up, Stock Down: Dubinion, Defense Carry the Day

App State

App State Athletics

App State jumped out fast and held on late, grinding out a 20-13 win over Lindenwood at Kidd Brewer Stadium. The Mountaineers flashed big-play offense early and leaned on their defense in the second half to stay unbeaten. Here’s whose stock rose — and whose fell.

📈 Stock Up

Rashod Dubinion (RB)
Dubinion carried the offense all afternoon, posting 194 rushing yards on 25 carries (7.8 YPC). His explosiveness kept drives alive and helped App State control tempo even when the passing game cooled off. He finished with nearly 200 all-purpose yards, cementing himself as the offensive workhorse.

Dalton Stroman (WR)
Stroman made the highlight of the game with a 72-yard touchdown reception on App State’s opening drive. He ended with 141 yards on just three catches, showcasing his ability to stretch the field and change momentum in an instant.

App State Defensive Front
The Mountaineers’ pass rush overwhelmed Lindenwood, recording eight sacks and 16 tackles for loss. Thomas Davis, Aiden Benton, and Brayshawn Littlejohn all had impact plays, turning Lindenwood’s offense one-dimensional and keeping them behind the chains all night.

📉 Stock Down

Discipline
Nine penalties for 80 yards reflected a lack of focus. False starts and illegal formations stalled promising possessions, while a late personal foul gifted Lindenwood better field position on its scoring drive.

➖ Holding Steady

Jaden Barnes (WR/PR)
Barnes remains a reliable target and spark on special teams. He hauled in eight catches for 71 yards and a touchdown, while also contributing as a punt returner. His consistency balances Stroman’s big-play threat.

Looking Ahead

App State showed flashes of dominance but left the door open too often in a one-score win. Cleaning up turnovers and penalties will be crucial as the Mountaineers prepare for their Week 3 matchup.
