Maxwell Football Club Executive Director Mark Wolpert announced that Indiana Head Coach Curt Cignetti has been named the winner of the 2025 George Munger Award, as the Collegiate Coach of the Year.
Leading Indiana to the first undefeated regular season in program history, Curt Cignetti guided the Hoosiers to their first outright Big Ten Championship since 1945, marking the program’s first conference championship since a shared title in 1967, and the No. 1 overall seed in the College Football Playoff. Under Cignetti’s leadership, Indiana produced a historic 2025 campaign that redefined the program’s national standing and positioned the Hoosiers as a championship contender. Indiana now advances in the College Football Playoff for a second consecutive season as it continues its pursuit of a national title.
Cignetti’s 2025 season established multiple program and conference benchmarks, including the most wins in a single season (13) and the most Big Ten Conference wins by a head coach in a single season (9). He became the first head coach in Indiana history to lead the program to consecutive 10–0 starts. Cignetti also delivered the program’s first road victory over an AP Top Five opponent and became the first head coach in school history to lead Indiana to the College Football Playoff, cementing one of the most transformative eras in the program’s history.
The formal presentation of the George Munger Coach of the Year Award will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Coca-Cola Roxy Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. The Maxwell Football Club will also be presenting its other national awards from high school through the professional ranks at the event.
