Stock Up, Stock Down: Auburn Cruises in Week 2

Auburn, Ball State

Auburn Athletics

Auburn dominated from start to finish Saturday night, rolling past Ball State 42-3 at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The Tigers racked up nearly 500 yards of total offense while holding the Cardinals to just 68 yards in a one-sided contest. Here’s whose stock rose — and whose fell.

📈 Stock Up

RB Jeremiah Cobb
Cobb was electric every time he touched the ball, rushing 11 times for 121 yards and two long touchdowns (46 and 45 yards). Averaging 11 yards per carry, he showcased his big-play ability and cemented himself as Auburn’s offensive catalyst.

QB Jackson Arnold
Arnold was sharp and efficient, completing 24 of 28 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns. He spread the ball to nine different receivers and showed poise in the pocket, commanding the offense with precision.

WR Eric Singleton Jr.
The sophomore wideout proved to be a reliable target for Arnold, hauling in four catches for 64 yards and two touchdowns, including a 30-yard score in the first quarter. His speed and separation gave Ball State’s secondary fits.

📉 Stock Down

Ball State Offensive Line
The Cardinals had no answers up front, finishing with -3 net rushing yards. Quarterback Kiael Kelly was sacked six times, constantly pressured, and forced into negative plays that killed any offensive rhythm.

Auburn Ball Security
Despite the blowout win, Auburn coughed the ball up five times, losing one. Against a more capable opponent, those miscues could prove costly. Cleaning up ball security will be a point of emphasis moving forward.

Ball State Special Teams
Though punter Adam Saul averaged a strong 46.7 yards, the Cardinals surrendered multiple long returns and consistently lost the field position battle. Their lone bright spot was a short field goal late in the third quarter.

➖ Holding Steady

Auburn Defense
The Tigers did exactly what was expected against an overmatched opponent, allowing just 68 total yards and no touchdowns. Xavier Atkins and Keyron Crawford led the charge up front, combining for three sacks and constant backfield pressure.

How these players trend will be crucial as Auburn prepares for its next game against South Alabama.
