The lights will be shining bright in Norman on Saturday night as No. 15 Michigan heads south to take on No. 18 Oklahoma inside Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC in what will be just the second-ever meeting between two of college football’s biggest brands.
A Rare Matchup
Michigan and Oklahoma haven’t crossed paths in nearly 50 years. Their only prior meeting came in the 1976 Orange Bowl, a defensive slugfest won by the Sooners, 14-6. This time around, both teams are ranked in the top 20 and looking to prove they belong in the early playoff conversation.
Michigan’s Start
The Wolverines opened the season with a 34-17 win over New Mexico, and true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood wasted no time making history. He threw for 251 yards on 21-of-31 passing in his debut, the most by a Michigan freshman in a first career start. Justice Haynes carried the load on the ground, exploding for 159 yards and three touchdowns, while tight end Marlin Klein had a career night with six catches for 93 yards and a score.

The Sooners also rolled in their opener, beating up on Temple behind new quarterback John Mateer. In his first career start, Mateer completed 30-of-37 passes for 392 yards and three touchdowns, setting a school record for most passing yards in a debut. He spread the ball around to a talented group of receivers, and Oklahoma piled up explosive plays while coasting to victory.
