Freshman cornerback Dallas Golden has been selected to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award Watch List, honoring the nation’s top freshman college football player.
Golden, a true freshman from Tampa, Fla., was a four-star cornerback as rated by On3, 247Sports, ESPN, and Rivals. He was selected to the Preseason MaxPreps All-America First-Team Offense.
Golden will play cornerback for the Irish. In high school, Golden was a 2023 MaxPreps Junior All-American and the 2023 Florida 2M Player of the Year, the Big County Preps Player of the Year and named to the SB Live All Tampa Bay Team. In 2022, he was named to the All-Big County Preps Team. He was a two-way player in high school, earning snaps at safety, cornerback, running back, wide receiver, and wildcat quarterback.
In his recruiting class, Golden was the No. 13 cornerback overall, No. 17 recruit in Florida and 105th overall recruit by On3; the No. 8 cornerback, No. 19 recruit in Florida and 161st overall player by 247Sports; the No. 13 cornerback, No. 19 Florida recruit and 149th overall recruit by ESPN; and the No. 9 cornerback, No. 17 Florida recruit and 72nd overall recruit by Rivals.
