Penn State running back Kaytron Allen’s status for the Pinstripe Bowl remains uncertain, but his postseason plans now include a prominent stop on the road to the NFL.
Allen has accepted an invitation to play in the 2026 Senior Bowl, the game announced, securing at least one more appearance on the field before the NFL draft process begins. The all-star showcase in Mobile, Alabama, is widely regarded as the most important postseason event for draft prospects ahead of the NFL scouting combine.
Allen joins a growing Penn State contingent headed to the Senior Bowl. Defensive lineman Zane Durant and edge rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton have also accepted invitations. Safety Zakee Wheatley is expected to participate as well, though his attendance has not yet been officially confirmed.
The invitation caps a landmark season for Allen, who led Penn State’s rushing attack and etched his name atop the program’s record book. Allen rushed for 1,303 yards during the regular season — a career high — and surpassed Evan Royster to become the Nittany Lions’ all-time leading rusher. He now owns 4,180 career rushing yards and could extend that total further if he elects to play in the Pinstripe Bowl next week.
Allen’s longtime backfield mate, Nicholas Singleton, has already opted out of the bowl game, closing his Penn State career with 3,461 rushing yards. Singleton ranks fourth on the school’s all-time list, trailing Allen, Royster and Saquon Barkley. Singleton did set a new program record this season with 45 career rushing touchdowns, breaking Barkley’s previous mark of 43.
Allen’s production earned national recognition. He was named a second-team All-American and a first-team All-Big Ten selection following the season. A former four-star recruit, Allen chose Penn State from a list of suitors that included Alabama, Tennessee, USC, Georgia and Ohio State.
Whether or not he suits up once more in pinstripes, Allen’s Senior Bowl invitation ensures his Penn State career will be showcased on one of college football’s biggest postseason stages.
